Members of the NATCAN cancer audit teams and PPI Forums came together on 27.03.24 to share learning and best practice, and to stimulate quality improvement (QI) activities with the aim of reducing variation in the care, treatment and outcomes of patients diagnosed with cancer. The event was attended by Peter Johnson, NHS England’s National Cancer Director for Cancer, members of the NATCAN Board and representatives from the NHSE Cancer programme and HQIP.
The programme included presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions based around the following key areas:
- NATCAN’s clinical epidemiological approach to supporting QI
- Identifying interventions for QI – what works and what doesn’t
- Outcome reporting and the role of positive deviance in driving improvements in care and outcomes
- How to design and implement QI initiatives – the clinical reality
