This global list compiles the Key COSD Data Items required by all ten NATCAN audits: Prostate, Lung, Bowel, Oesophago-Gastric, Kidney, Ovarian, Pancreatic, Primary and Metastatic Breast Cancer, and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
The Key COSD Data Items for individual audits are available here. There may be differences between the individual lists and the global list because the NATCAN audit teams underwent a review process to streamline and refine the items in compiling the list.
The document consists of five lists:
- NATCAN Key COSD Items: Core COSD Items and Pathology Items required by at least 5 of the 10 NATCAN audits.
- General Core Data Items by individual audit
- Site-Specific Core Data Items
- General Pathology Data Items by individual audit
- Site-Specific Core Data Items
In the table, checked boxes indicate items that are essential for each audit project team to perform their analysis effectively. Some items are highlighted in audit‑specific colours to indicate where improvements in data completeness are a priority for the audit.
This list is designed to give hospitals, Trusts, and Cancer Alliances a clear, unified view of the data items required by each audit, supporting improvements in data upload and collection processes. Ultimately, this aims to enhance data completeness and quality, enabling effective audits and reliable reports.
If you need support with improving data quality or data completeness, please contact your local Data Liaison Manager from NDRS. Their contact details can be found in the FAQ: “How do I check the completeness of my cancer data submissions to NDRS?”.
