NATCAN publishes the first data quality reports today

10.04.24

The first quarterly reports are published today by the new national cancer audits in breast cancer (primary and metastatic), ovarian, pancreatic, non-Hodgkin lymphoma and kidney cancer.

These reports initially include data quality metrics only utilising data from the Rapid Cancer Registration Dataset (RCRD). The reports focus on data completeness as this aspect of data quality underpins what the NATCAN audits can reliably and robustly report in future quarterly reports. The specific data completeness items were chosen in collaboration with the audit’s clinical and methodological experts.

We encourage all provider teams to review their data completeness and make improvements as required. Going forward, the NATCAN teams will continue development work, in consultation with stakeholders, to determine which performance indicators are appropriate for quarterly reporting using the RCRD. These future performance indicators are likely to concern the diagnostic pathway, treatments and outcomes.
