The NLCA team launched a Quality Improvement (QI) intervention in November 2025. The focus of the intervention is on improving access to Lung Cancer Nurse Specialist (LCNS) care. Each quarter we review results and share findings with trusts who show excellent or improving performance or whose results are below the national average.
Our goals are as follows:
•Increase the proportion of patients receiving care from a LCNS
•Improve the completeness of LCNS data in Cancer Outcomes and Services Data set (COSD)
•Support NHS trusts to identify barriers and share solutions that improve LCNS access for all patients
The NLCA is working in collaboration with Lung Cancer Nursing UK (LCNUK) promoting shared learning and best practice across LCNS teams nationwide.
